Confirmed my ID~ Orange Cube Aka Orange Cute

Haha dont mind about the Orange Cute thing it was a joke with my ID. He says if we keep comparing him with contractors his new sub contractor company will be called orange cute already. Well, so far his rates will be considered reasonable and his design he showed us something we like. I told roy, i was quite tired to do so many comparsion. He is giving me a free kitchen (we just top up the difference from their package). My kitchen cost me about 5k and above. Most ID keep complaining our kitchen is long when we ask them about the price. We hope to use that savings for our aircon and some curtains.

Well, i know getting a contractor would be much cheaper but i feel that they cant help me much on designing. I have raw ideas from books and IDs.. haha but i dont want my house look weird. Most of them quote me to the minimum and my budget, btw the time i add this and that, we went over budget over 30K.

Our inital budget is 20K but end up going up to 25k, alot of IDs and contractor cannot make it and 28K to 30K seems to be the range. Ours would consider simple modern design. He just gave me what i wanted. Roy likes his bar top counter. And i yet to see my display cabinet for my soft toy collection. Anyway my ID is called Amos, must ask him to make cookies for me. hahaha. Sure kenna suan later.

Reasons i choose him - Very comfortable and he can talk english with me. Hahaha Silly reason right? But seriously he makes us feel very comfortable and personal touch. He will update us when his quotation is ready and he just joke around most of the time. I tell u i never had fun in the renovation searching for information and never felt boring with him. I could yawn right in front of city design and ATD (@ harbour front) but not his session. He just make it enjoyable and can talk reasons without being offended. We just have to leave it up to his good hands on designing.

He does treat well to his clients and alot of referral jobs on hand. Abit worried he cant cope and delay on my renovations but somehow my current company always delay in their projects. So some delays is quite common i guess. I mean reasonable time frame and hope we can move in by decemeber. We had not gotten our keys yet but i was thinking not to search anymore. Roy like him from the beginning. For me at first was quite ok, I just enjoy his session and dont feel too expensive even he have a designer tag on him.

He is a part time photographer (not sure part time or just a hobby) but we know he have a big designer heart. Why big? He would give ideas out of the box. I had not seen one of his design same with other IDs.

Other ID firm Review :

1) Living Elements : My parents house ID. From my parents old quotation, i felt it was expensive already. I think if i hunt outside, i can get better pricing. I dont deny she give good carpentry works and overall nice lady. I was hoping she could give us a better price but it was quite disappointing overall. Roy was not very comfortable with her. From his face, i know he just dont really like it very much. Her ideas were practical yet i felt so bare with her designs. She keep saying we can buy things from IKEA. She had overdone on the word IKEA. I dont know what she have with IKEA that almost everything with IKEA.
Her quotation with bare went up to 29K. We were like nothing much also 29K? I already wanted to drop her after seeing her inital quotation. I told my mom we dont have that kind of good feelings with her and her quotation is way to expensive without additional things.

2) A&D, recommended by solonavi, as their house is done up by A&D. They work with our budget, 3 rooms were not touched besides flooring and also bare minimum. 24K quotation. I was too tired to spoon feed as he lump everything together. So we dont know their breakdown. Roy was not too keen on them after seeing their quotation. The first ID that didnt need to meet up. Just emailed the quotation over. Maybe guess dont have that kind of feeling with him.

3) ATD, she gave us Zen feeling on the house. Roy says he is quite ok with her but i dont have that kind of feeling with her. I just feel normal with her. Nothing great but high price tag also. 30K without alot of stuff already. She was saying her Bamboo design as a divider was something different but today we went to IMM and pass by Zen tradition, we saw the one she was highly recommending. I was totally put off as its a common idea and it just look weird. I was thinking if we get crazy at night, can use it as pole dancing!!

4) G'Plan - the fastest ID i ever went to. First meeting 30mins, yesterday meeting 30mins also. Haha. Design quite ok. Price quite competitive. The one recommened by reno talk users. If we gotten famous kelvin to quote us, maybe our decision will be tougher to decide. Quotation for basic is 27K. Same as amos but they didnt add my display cabinet and roy bar top. Gave me a feature wall just at the shelter door. but its much cheaper at living elements at the door feature wall. G'plan is 560 and living elements is 1050. See the difference?

5 & 6) City Design & Future Homes had been mentioned before, please read earlier post :)

I still have cisseern and image creative but i was thinking to give up on those two. Cissern keep saying 25k budget is not enuff and this cannot that cannot. Her design is better and totally change what i told her what i want. I am quite put off. Image creative is recommended by roy's uncle. I cant comment on that as roy was dealing with that ID. From my SK forumer friend, they are quite on the high side. Superbrand name.. haha
