Mini Updates~ Sofa/Defects/ID/Paints/Laminate

Well, firstly after deciding to get a house. We would want to do renovations for our new house right? So how do we go about getting a good ID and knowing is a good ID?

Based on my mini research that i had done, it boils downs to the following

1) Reading up on the customer feedbacks on ID firms
2) Gathering Info and dont based on one customer bad feedback to "condemn" the ID firm.
3) Dont go for other couple quotes as each individual couples are different on layout n design.
4) Have a rough Idea on what type of design or what you want n needs (GnM Blog best info!)
5) Asking for quotations from different ID, would able to help you to gauge the prices of items listed and you have stronger baragaining power when comes to final price.
6) How comfortable you are with the ID. How you feel about the ID, whether the person is sincere to help you and give you their best services. Its not really about the freebies or the lowest price. Price is always one of the major factors but i think from what i read, every cent paid is every cent worth in chinese. (bad in chinese so.. haha english translations) Afterall, most humans would love a good service and value for money.

I had based on my ID search on what i had gone through up there. I have no regrets on decision as i am so happy doing my renovations and having fun. I always appreciated what Soma (ID nick) done for us. He will constantly keep in contact and try his best for us. He showed personalize service that i see lacking in most IDs. One thing is he is good at, dealing with my mom sharp tongue. Even my mom have praises for him recently even she wanted us to use back my ex-ID who done our current 4-room flat.

On Sunday, I went window shopping with roy to see on the hobs/hoods/etc and beddings n whatever else.

We had went into the beddings to check on the beds.. most of them quite nice to sleep on actually.. i dont like too hard or too soft. Went to check out Max Coil which is a local brand. Price range for firm mattress about $800.00. We quite like the boss as he shares alot of information and what to look for. Maybe he is friendly and nice. He did want us to commit to get his mattress but we were firm enough to say we go n check out other places first. Another one was lady americana or something. Mattress that we like is $1200 but very cheap bedframe @$299.00 only. Only problem is the mattress is 12 Inch thick.. haha we hold back as my parents got us those wedding traditional bedsheets already. My mom asked me to visit another uncle who sold us our current magic coil beds. He moved away from IMM as the rental is going up by another 50% which he find it. Will decide on the bed frames and mattress after going to his shop.

One thing i learn, going to different shops, u get different opinions on the type of bed frames , first side drawers are solid n good design says storage with hydraulic pumps are not so good. Those normal cheap bedframes says its always in the mattress not the bedframes. Its really up to individual on what they feel like. I am having a hard choice.

We had been given by Soma the latest 2007 laminated lamchun collection. We just love some of the new laminates inside~ We are redoing our selection again lol. It was fun sitting at the IMM BK and cutting all the colours we like and comparing with laminated book. I felt like a little kid cutting out and paste it all over the house layouts and laminated book. We wanted to take out the laminate book but it was too new so we didnt bear to destory it like our paint book. lol Thank God soma says dont need to return to him the book.. haha if not he just get alot of holes in the book :P

He will update us soon how is our selection and whether all are matching.

My hod/hood will change to rinnai as the turbo designer hood was too flumsy and asia excel guy recommended rinnai better also. lol so will look into the pricing for them and get it settled soon. lol

I had reported the defects and the officer had told me most of them can be done by Friday except the town council leakage problem as they need to do some paper work on them. Oh well as least happy thing is we can start work on 16th Oct 2006! YIPPPEEEEEEE!!! Cant wait to kick start our renovations!
